Parts when you need them

Gulliver Engineering Solutions offers fast, reliable CNC machining from our UK-based shop. We prioritise short lead times as standard — not as an upsell — and keep you updated throughout the job so you always know where your order stands.

CNC Machining at Gulliver Engineering Solutions

We specialise in precision CNC milling and turning for engineers and buyers who need parts done right. We work on both one-off prototypes and low-volume production runs, and we take on complex, tight-tolerance jobs that many larger shops turn away.

Every job gets the same level of care — clear communication, no surprises, and parts that meet spec.

CNC Milling

3, 4 & 5-axis milling for prismatic and complex parts

CNC Turning

Precision cylindrical components with live tooling

CNC milling is a subtractive machining process where a rotating cutting tool removes material from a solid block to create the required geometry. Gulliver operates 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis milling centres, allowing us to produce everything from simple prismatic parts to highly complex geometries and undercuts — all in-house, in the UK.

Our 5-axis capability means complex parts can often be completed in a single setup, reducing lead time and improving accuracy. Tolerances typically to ±0.020mm. Suitable for aluminium, stainless steel, mild steel, brass, copper, and engineering plastics.

CNC turning uses a stationary cutting tool against a rotating workpiece to produce precise cylindrical components — shafts, bushings, fittings, and multi-feature rotational parts. Gulliver’s turning capability includes live tooling, allowing cross-drilled holes, milled flats, and other features to be added without a second operation.

Diameters from 3mm to 300mm. Tolerances typically to ±0.010mm. Suitable for the same material range as our milling service.

CNC machining produces parts with excellent dimensional accuracy, but surface finish requirements vary by application. Gulliver offers a range of post-machining finishes via our trusted partner network — all quoted and managed as part of your order.

Available finishes include: anodising (type II and type III), bead blasting, polishing, passivation, powder coating, zinc and nickel plating, chromate conversion coating, and laser marking. Discuss your requirements when you enquire.

How does Gulliver’s CNC machining service work?

CNC machining is a subtractive manufacturing process where material is removed from a solid block using computer-controlled cutting tools. It’s the most reliable method for producing tight-tolerance custom metal and plastic parts — from simple turned components to complex 5-axis geometries. At Gulliver, we operate our own machines in the UK and handle every job directly.

Precision CNC machining, handled in-house

Gulliver Engineering Solutions operates 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC milling centres alongside CNC turning equipment. We work with aluminium, stainless steel, mild steel, brass, copper, and engineering plastics. Tight tolerances are standard — typically ±0.01mm depending on part geometry and material. Post-processing finishes including anodising, bead blasting, passivation, and laser marking are available via our trusted partner network.

FAQs about our CNC machining service

Our standard tolerance is ISO 2768-m (medium) for metal parts and ISO 2768-c (coarse) for plastics. For tighter requirements, we routinely hold tolerances to ±0.01mm depending on part geometry and material. If your drawing specifies tolerances, we machine to them. If not, we’ll confirm what’s achievable for your specific part before we start.

For CNC milling, we can machine parts from small detailed components up to approximately 600 x 400 x 300mm on our 5-axis centres. For CNC turning, we handle diameters from 3mm up to 300mm. If your part falls outside these ranges, get in touch and we’ll advise on options.

As standard, all parts are deburred and edge-broken. Surface roughness is typically Ra 1.6–3.2μm as machined. If you need a specific cosmetic standard or a controlled surface finish, specify this on your drawing or enquiry and we’ll quote accordingly.

For standard parts, you can get an instant online quote by uploading your CAD file to our quoting tool. Pricing is based on machining time, material, setup, and any finishing required. For complex or multi-operation parts, we’ll review your files and come back with a detailed quote promptly. There are no hidden costs — what you’re quoted is what you pay.

The main cost drivers in CNC machining are machining time, material choice, setup complexity, and tight tolerances. Design tips that reduce cost include: minimising the number of setups required, avoiding unnecessarily tight tolerances on non-critical features, choosing standard material stock sizes, and keeping internal corners as large as possible. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to advise on DFM before you commit to a design.

We machine your parts directly at Gulliver Engineering Solutions in the UK. We don’t broker jobs to third-party factories. That means you always know who is making your parts, and we take full accountability for quality and lead time.
